Transportation

Transportation availability varies by grade level.   

Prekindergarten 

  • Transportation is not provided. For prekindergarten students who live outside of Hartford, a reimbursement stipend is available.   

Kindergarten – Grade 8  

  • Transportation is provided for students living inside the RSCO transportation zone. Review the transportation zone map to determine eligibility. 

    • RSCO does not provide door-to-door transportation. Bus stops vary and may include stops in your neighborhood or centralized locations in or near your town. Typically, centralized bus stops are not within walking distance of a student’s home. Families are responsible for transportation to the bus stop.   

    • Students attending a magnet school located in their town receive transportation through their home district. Hartford residents receive transportation through Hartford Public Schools for this school. Contact the district’s transportation office for more information.  

  • For students living outside the transportation zone, families may transport their child to an existing stop within the transportation zone or provide their own transportation. A reimbursement stipend is available for families who live outside the transportation zone and bring their child to school.

The following priorities are used in the placement process and can increase the chance of a placement if the school has available seats. To receive priority, you must apply during the on-time application period and make the school your first choice. Applicants receive priority in the order listed below.
