We are Betances STEM (BSTEM) Magnet School, home of the Nerdy Birds! Our students, staff, and families are &ldquo;Not Afraid to Be Smart,&rdquo; and it shows! We are a 5th through 8th grade middle school that incorporates traditional core subjects with an advanced academic focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to expose students to 21st-century skills that enable them to be confident and effective problem solvers and critical thinkers. STEM is incorporated into all classes and content areas to deepen the understanding of science and technology across disciplines. Our students are leaders in the classroom who seamlessly connect challenging concepts to real-world ideas through hands-on experiential learning, observation and analysis, investigation and scientific inquiry, mathematical calculation, and engineering design.

Our robust partnerships with the CT Science Center, Barnes and Noble, and UConn create valuable connections for our students for college as well as opportunities for internships and mentoring. Betances STEM Magnet School 8th grade students have a direct pathway to 9th grade at Pathways Academy of Technology and Design. To be eligible for this pathway, applicants must submit an on-time RSCO application with Pathways Academy of Technology and Design as their first choice.

To receive priority, you must apply during the on-time application period and make the school your first choice. Applicants receive priority in the order listed below.
