At Sport and Medical Sciences Academy (SMSA), we engage students in exciting 21st-century themes focused on Sport and Medical Sciences and prepare them for college through an early college preparatory experience starting in middle school. We embed our four core beliefs&mdash;Dedication, Responsibility, Discipline, and Respect&mdash;into each student&rsquo;s educational experience to develop social consciousness and leadership skills. Our theme integrates academics and advanced technology, focusing on medical science in the sports context, to promote healthy active lifestyles and prepare students for advanced studies in sport medicine, exercise science, and health management.

We prepare students for the future with practical experiences, career exploration, and leadership development. Our students earn tuition-free college credits through the College Board and UConn, giving them an edge in college applications. Emphasizing opportunities for advanced study and career exploration in sports and medicine, we equip students with the knowledge, skills, and courage to become productive citizens in a diverse society. Our students are passionate, have a strong work ethic, and are lifelong learners.

The following priorities are used in the placement process and can increase the chance of a placement if the school has available seats. To receive priority, you must apply during the on-time application period and make the school your first choice. Applicants receive priority in the order listed below.

Special Features

The Sport and Medical Science theme integrates academics and advanced technology into the learning experience with a focus on medical science in the sports context.  The theme is integrated throughout the core curriculum to prepare students for advanced studies in sports medicine, exercise science, and health management.
